Update on Migrants at the Border with Frontera de Cristo

Since the US shut down because of  COVID19, any migrant families arriving at the border in Agua Prieta/Douglas AZ have had to shelter in place on the Mexico side, hoping to avoid the notice of the Cartel.  In my last blog post, I explained that CAME is a shelter in Agua Prieta for migrants arriving at our border, who are waiting to have an initial "credible risk" asylum interview.  CAME has been over capacity for the last 2 years at least, and now it is overwhelmed again since no one is being processed at our border for the foreseeable future.  Frontera de Cristo has initiated a Capital Campaign to raise money for CAME, a sister organization, to expand its capacity from 44 to 100 people.  Please follow this link for more information, and please donate if you are able.  Your dollars will directly help migrants at our border be safe while they wait out the virus and the decisions of this administration.

At the start of this COVID lockdown, blogging didn't seem that urgent or interesting.  Now that we've been in isolation for a few weeks, it feels more appropriate.  So I'll be posting about my trip to Cuba soon.
